Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." John 8:12
A little about ourselves
Street Lights is an outreach ministry that originally started by D. Fisher and J. Fyffe. K. Ashley and M. Hibertt are also core members in this effort. We started out by writing bible verses and catch phrases on t-shirts, as an "in your face" method of wearing and distributing gospel tracts. Eventually we extended the ministry to tackle the practical needs of homeless people specifically in downtown Toronto, providing them with something hot to eat while sharing the gospel.

Devotional - When God Says WaitBrothers, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience, but let patience have its perfect work, that you may be complete, lacking nothing.
James 1:2-4 When God says wait, He doesn't mean no. Yet there are several divine principles as to why God would make us wait. When I was a child, being told to wait seemed like cruel and unusual punishment, surely God would make me wait.
In this fast paced world, we have been systematically conditioned to crave the need for instant gratification. All marketers have to do is suggest the need and an almost uncontrollable desire for gratification is triggered in us. When God says wait, He is training and equipping us to resist the lure of the world, and how to exercise self control to avoid making rash, impulsive decisions that cost us dearly in the long run. When God says wait, He is teaching us to depend on Him and to trust His wisdom. When God says wait, He is testing the genuineness of your faith (1 Peter 1:7) . When God says wait, it because our heavenly reward is greater than any earthly possession (Matthew 5:12). When God says wait, it is to produce patience that in turn we may be mature Christians lacking nothing and impervious to the lure of the world. Bro O.

When we fail to wait on God, the scripture testifies that men make a mess of things. Yet there is one thing that God never fails to grant us immediately when we ask - that is His Holy Spirit.
“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened... If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Luke 11:9,13). Let me ask you this question - Is God still waiting on you? When you ask for and receive God's Holy Spirit, you become His son or daughter; and when you make make Him your priority, he promises to hear and answer your prayer (Matthew 6:33) If you haven't already done so, ask Jesus to be Lord of your life - What are you waiting for! |
