5 Helpful tips to get you started with Bible Study
- Before you start the study of the word, take time to pray - Ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand and apply the scripture to your life.
- Jesus said in Luke 11:28, "But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice." (NLT)
- Read the text, read the text and read it again.
- Use a bible dictionary to get a better grasp of the background - names, places, customs, etc.
- Ask good questions about the text, think about your conclusions; resist the urge to resort to other commentaries too quickly.
- Talk to people who are committed to the word of God.
- As you grow add quality bible study tools to your tool box, develop a method that works for you.
